Accessing files that you’ve downloaded to your iPhone or iPad may be more difficult than it is on a Mac or PC. Downloads for iOS and iPadOS are kept in a specific folder that can be accessed through the Files app.

Finding the Files app on your iPhone or iPad is the first step. Using Spotlight Search is the quickest way to accomplish this. From the Home screen’s center, swipe one finger down and type “Files.” In the search results, click “Files.”
Depending on which device you’re using, touch “On My iPhone” or “On My iPad” after selecting the “Browse” link at the bottom.

  1. Depending on which device you’re using, touch “On My iPhone” or “On My iPad” after selecting the “Browse” link at the bottom.
  2. Depending on the apps you have loaded, the list under “Locations” will change, but the “On My [Device]” section will always be present.
  3. Following that, you’ll see a list of directories that, once more, will differ based on the installed apps. The “Downloads” folder is typically where most people save their files, so tap it.
  4. A list of all the files you’ve downloaded will be shown. You have the option to save a file during the download process in a different folder than “Downloads.” If the file you’re looking for isn’t there, tap another folder after tapping the Back arrow in the upper left corner.
  5. After finding the desired file, you may tap it to get a preview or tap and hold it to bring up a pop-up menu. The file can then be moved, copied, or renamed, among other procedures.
  6. Simply shut down the Files app when you’re finished. The file you’re looking for will still be there when you open Files the following time.
