With an improved heart rate sensor, a plethora of additional activity modes and smartwatch functions, and a second model with solar-enhanced battery life, the Forerunner 955—which was introduced in June 2022—upgraded the portfolio.
In fact, we referred to the Forerunner 955 as the greatest GPS watch available in our evaluation. Despite our happiness, Garmin dropped the Forerunner 965 less than a year later, giving the already fantastic selection a vibrant makeover.
The Forerunner 965’s brand-new AMOLED display is the device’s most notable update. The touchscreen, which has been increased in size from 1.3 to 1.4 inches, is clear and colorful and gives the overall user experience a premium sense.
The addition of a titanium bezel adds a second, more understated note of elegance. The MIP display on the 955 is very readable, but the AMOLED version puts the 965 in line with the most well-liked wearables on the market, including the Apple Watch. We discovered that the improved screen made using map features on the Forerunner 965 especially convenient.
