Google Call Screen redesign allows users three options to combat spam calls

Image credit : ZDNET Certain Pixel phones have a feature called Pixel Call Screen that filters incoming calls based on whether they are from numbers that are listed in Google's spam database, numbers that have been changed and are being used by spammers (like those that appear to be similar to your number or have the first three digits of your number), calls from first-time callers, or calls from people using a private or hidden number. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 models provide you the option to select how your phone should react to these calls. For instance, you can choose to accept calls from numbers that appear in Google's spam database by default, have these calls automatically screened with robocalls rejected, or have such calls discreetly rejected. You can either let the call ring or have it automatically checked for the other three call types (faked numbers, first-time calls, and private/hidden numbers). When the highest level is selected, your phone will screen unknown calls and reject spam. When you select the medium level of protection, your phone will reject spam calls and filter questionable calls. Additionally, if the basic level of protection is chosen, only known spam will be rejected. Open the Phone app on your Pixel 6 or Pixel 7 series smartphone, then select the three-button menu icon to the right of the search bar at the top of the screen to access the Call Screen settings. Dial Call Screen under Settings > Spam and Call Screen. Version 106.0.534575879 of the Google Phone app contains the new Protection Level menu, albeit the rollout currently appears to be fairly limited. The new menu will be appreciated by Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series customers who found configuring their Call Screen settings to be too challenging, but some users may want to leave the current menu configuration as is because it offers more possibilities.
