Google's AI chatbot, originally known as Bard, has undergone major transformation. The chatbot's new moniker, Gemini, is consistent with the AI model that Google revealed in December. Since its release, Gemini—which had a mixed reception at first—has experienced a number of modifications. The chatbot's ability to create graphics from words was enhanced with the most recent update, demonstrating its growing powers. In addition to changing the name, Gemini has unveiled a more expensive variant named Ultra. However, because of certain difficulties with self-awareness, Gemini may continue to identify as Bard during the transition time. Also Read: What Do Alexa’s Light Colors Mean? Google's move to rebrand its AI chatbot is not happening in isolation. OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has released its GPT-4 Turbo large language model and now allows users to create custom AI apps for its app store. Microsoft has also announced its plan to incorporate a dedicated key on Windows 11 devices to launch its AI tool, Copilot. Additionally, Perplexity, a startup search engine powered by AI, is gaining traction in the tech world. These developments highlight the growing prominence of generative AI, which is projected to become a $1.3 trillion market by 2032. As generative AI transitions from a groundbreaking innovation to a commonplace technology, corporations such as Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, and Perplexity are lining up to win over consumers' hearts, minds, and wallets. Gemini offers a conversational and multimodal experience, allowing users to interact through audio, text, and images. For example, users can share a photo of a flat tyre and ask for assistance or provide a photo of a pet and request a caption for social media. Furthermore, Gemini enables seamless conversation continuation across devices, similar to how ads follow users from one device to another. In contrast to Google Assistant, which offers a variety of responses, Gemini serves as a large language model (LLM). It can create its own writing since it has been taught in a variety of textual sources to understand words and their relationships. LLMs do, however, still have several drawbacks, such as sporadic errors and absurd replies. Gemini includes a double-check function to assist users in confirming answers utilising online resources in order to remedy this. Google has introduced Gemini Advanced, an experience that offers access to Ultra 1.0, their most advanced AI model. Ultra 1.0 can handle complex tasks like coding, reasoning, and following nuanced instructions. Gemini Advanced is available through the Google One subscription service, which now includes a Google One AI Premium plan priced at $20 per month. Ultra 1.0 supports longer queries and better understands questions in the context of previous queries. It can be utilized for advanced coding, content creation ideas, or personalized tutoring. Additionally, Google Workspace and Google Cloud's Duet AI tools have been rebranded as Gemini, extending their capabilities across Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Meet. Through this integration, customers may make use of data from several Google products within these tools, improving productivity and teamwork. Building a full AI assistant is a huge step forward, as evidenced by Google's rebranding efforts with Gemini. Gemini's conversational and multimodal features are intended to give users a more beneficial and engaging experience. Google intends to strengthen multimodal capabilities, add interactive coding tools, and conduct more in-depth data analysis on Gemini as it develops further. Overall, Google's AI chatbot, now known as Gemini, represents a significant advancement in the field of generative AI. With its new name, apps, and premium version, Gemini aims to become a prominent player in the AI assistant market, offering users a more engaging and personalized experience across various devices and platforms.
