The admiration that Academy voters have for All Quiet on the Western Front is unrestrained. Additionally, the World War I epic, Germany's entry for the Academy Awards, received nine nominations overall in addition to honors in the Best International Film category. The nominations include - Best Picture, along with Best Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Original Score, Visual Effects, Sound, Makeup & Hairstyling, and Production Design. Furthermore, the nominations, according to director Edward Berger, were a "wonderful surprise." He told Deadline, "Well, I don't know if surprised is the right word because there has been a lot of love from everyone for the past few months, but I guess overwhelmed and stunned in a way by the love that's been pouring out from colleagues and members and other filmmakers. The cast of the movie

Felix Kammerer, a newcomer, stars as Paul Bäumer. In addition, Daniel Brühl, who is well-known for Inglourious Basterds and for playing the villain Baron Zemo in the MCU movies beginning with 2016's Captain America: Civil War, is also a member of the cast. Other cast members consist of Albrecht Schuch, Aaron Hilmer, Moritz Klaus, Edin Hasanovic, Adrian Grünewald, Thibault De Montalembert, and Devid Striesow. Book adaptation

All Quiet on the Western Front is based on Erich Maria Remarque's 1928 novel of the same name. Additionally, for their screenplay, Edward Berger, Lesley Paterson, and Ian Stokell received an Oscar nomination. Furthermore, Lewis Milestone, an Oscar-winning director, had previously turned the book into a movie in 1930. The plot of All Quiet on the Western Front

The story of this two-and-a-half-hour film is about a 17-year-old German soldier named Paul's harrowing experience on the Western Front of World War I in 1917. In addition, it is rated R due to graphic imagery and intense gory war violence. According to the official synopsis, "Paul and his comrades experience first-hand how the initial euphoria of war turns into desperation and fear as they fight for their lives, and each other, in the trenches."
