Here's How To Create Polls on Slack

Photo Credit: Online Tech Use a poll to rapidly collect the opinions of your team on a subject. You may create a poll in Slack using a few different methods. A Slack poll is excellent if you already use the program for team communication whether you're looking for ideas, opinions, or to reach a consensus. Without using any other tools, you can construct a simple poll, or you can use a poll-specific Slack app. Let's take a deeper look at these approaches so you can select the one that suits you the most.

Construct a simple Slack poll

While there isn't a built-in polling option in Slack right now, creating a simple one usually only takes a few minutes. To indicate the many answer choices, simply use emoji. The emoji that matches their response can then be used as a simple response from your audience. Photo Credit: Howchoo

• Go to the channel or chat where you wish to submit the poll's message box in step 1.
• Type your inquiry. We'll use the question, "When do you feel the most productive?" as our example.
• Holding Shift while pressing Enter or Return will advance you to the following line.
• Type the first possible response and use an emoji as the voting method. You can vote for Morning by typing ":sunrise:," for instance.
• Scroll down to the following line and insert the second response option with its associated emoji. The same procedure should be followed for every poll answer option.
• When you're done, your poll should resemble the image below. To publish your poll, click the green Submit now button.

Use the Slack app Easy Poll

A Slack tool called Easy Poll simplifies the process of producing polls and surveys simple. A poll can be created from scratch or using a template. We'll make use of a practical template for this how-to. Photo Credit: Effy.ai

• Under the Apps area on the left of Slack, select Simple Poll to utilize a template.
• Choose More > Apps from the left-sidebar menu. Next, look for Simple Poll. Choose the Add button on the app when you see it in the list of search results. The Slack App Directory listing for Easy Poll will show up in a browser window. The Add to Slack button should be chosen.
• Next, choose Allow. then adhere to the directions displayed on screen.)
• From the two drop-down menus in the top right, select Polls and Template polls.
• Choose Build this poll when you see a template you wish to use.
•  Next, you can change the sample questions and answers, make the responses anonymous, permit other people to submit answers, set a limit on the number of votes any person may cast, or schedule the poll at a later time. The poll can be posted on any channel you choose.
• To see that after finishing altering the template, choose Preview.
• Choose Create poll if you're satisfied with the poll. If not, press the Back button to go back to the edit window and make more adjustments.

• By clicking the button on the right, team members can vote for a solution. The poll's results are visible to everyone as they are submitted. Each selected response will have the number of votes next to it. Click the Three dots in the top right corner of the poll and choose an action if you want to edit, close, delete, or create a new poll.
• To change the poll's settings, have it repeat, or get the results as a CSV file, select Edit poll (from the Three dots menu).
