How to Get a Free Alltrails Pro Membership

The West Virginia Department of Tourism has teamed up with the hiking app AllTrails to entice outdoor enthusiasts to venture into the wild, explore the state's mountainous terrains, and possibly stop by New River Gorge, the 63rd and newest national park in the country by offering a free Pro membership.

What does an AllTrails Pro membership entail?

Access to a global database of hiking trails, including instructions, details about the trails, and reviews and comments from other hikers, is available via the free hiking app AllTrails. In addition, the app assists hikers in selecting a trail that is suitable for their experience level and preparing them for any obstacles they may face. Furthermore, it’s a great way to get answers to common questions, like - Might I bring my dog? What level of difficulty is this hike? Does it have any shade? Do I need to pack swimwear so I can take a dip in a waterfall at the end? How's the parking? However, the Pro membership takes things a step further by enabling you to download maps to your phone so you can access them offline, get alerts if you take the wrong turn while using the trails (similar to Google Maps), access satellite weather data, and check pollen, air quality, and light pollution heat maps so you know where to go (or not to go).  

How to sign up for a free AllTrails Pro membership?

You can apply for your free Pro membership by filling out an online form with your details between now and the end of November. In addition, within 24 hours, you will receive a code that will grant you a one-year pro membership. However, you are formally committing to hiking in West Virginia by December 31, 2022, by filling out the form. (You are on the honor system, but the place seems to be worthwhile.)
