How to prevent Overheating Your Phone or Laptop

Keep your smartphone or laptop away from hot cars and direct sunlight

Wherever you store your devices, be cautious. Anyone who has spent time in a closed vehicle on a hot day will relate to the extreme temperature that results and our skin isn't the only organ that dislikes the heat. Even touching your phone or computer if it is left in direct sunlight or a hot car can cause hand burns. Since the battery is already overheating, it gets worse if it is playing music, making a call, or charging. In those hot places, turn off the device and attempt to only use it in the cooler shade. Sitting with it under a tree or covering it with a shirt are two alternatives. Try placing the air conditioner vent in its general area if you're in a car. Temperature Check

While it's entirely natural for computers and smartphones to warm up due to the battery heating up, there is, of course, a maximum temperature at which these devices may operate without becoming overheated. With greater flexibility for newer processors, the basic rule for laptop operating temperatures is to keep them below 122°F (50°C). Use a free temperature monitoring tool to check for overheating if your laptop seems like it's running too hot and has started to exhibit performance issues. If you notice the warning signs, you'll be able to detect if your laptop is overheating. Many smartphones will automatically shut down if the phone becomes too hot. Some smartphones have temperature sensors built in that can alert you if the phone or battery is becoming too warm. Apple states that the ideal temperature range for iPhones to operate at is between 62° and 72°F (16° and 22°C) and that temperatures beyond 95°F (35°C) are harmful and may permanently damage the battery capacity. The ideal temperature range for MacBooks is between 50° and 95°F (10° and 35°C). You can keep your iPhone or MacBook in a room that is between -4° and 113°F (-20° to 45°C) for storage.

Turn Off the Applications That Use the Most Battery

Turn off the functions and apps that consume the majority of the battery. GPS, 4G/5G, and the highest screen brightness not only drain your laptop's or smartphone's battery life but also cause your battery to heat up. Use your device's battery-saving (for example, "power saver") mode to conserve battery life and automatically lower battery heat. Wait before using your hot smartphone or laptop

Wait until your laptop or smartphone has slightly cooled off after moving from a hot place to one that is more temperate before turning it back on. The best practice is to wait until the device returns to its typical thermal working range.

Make use of a laptop cooling stand

An excellent option is a laptop cooling stand. These stands not only disperse heat from your laptop but also place it in an ergonomically sound position. If your laptop begins to overheat, place it in a cooling stand. If you already use your laptop on a desk, installing a cooling stand won't make much of a difference to how it is set up. Turn Off Your Computer or Phone When Not in Use

The best course of action in really hot weather may be to switch off the device and save the power for when you truly need to use it. One of the easiest methods to cool down a phone or laptop is to cut off all of the electricity to every component because certain devices turn off automatically when they become too hot. If it's mostly adjusted and within its suggested thermal working limitations, you can safely turn it back on and operate it normally after 15 minutes in a cooler climate.
