In this guide, we will assume that you have already established a connection and pairing between your Galaxy Watch and a compatible Samsung phone (specified models listed below).
To utilize this feature, locate the Camera Controller app on your Galaxy Watch. This application is pre-installed on all Wear OS-powered Galaxy Watches, and it comes preloaded on models such as the Galaxy Watch 6, Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Galaxy Watch 4, and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
Identifying the app is straightforward: it features a red circular icon adorned with a white camera symbol. If you can't find it, the reason might be that your watch isn't connected to a Samsung smartphone that's compatible. Assuming you've located the app, proceed with the following steps:
- Launch the Camera Controller app from your Galaxy Watch.
- Grant permission by tapping 'Allow' to enable the app to discover and establish connections with nearby devices.
- Wait for the camera preview to load on your watch.
- Position your camera and secure it to frame your subject or yourself.
- If you wish to switch to a different camera, you'll need to use your phone's camera app in the usual manner.
- Once content with the composition, press the white button on your watch to capture the photo.
What phones is Camera Controller compatible with?
Following its introduction in the Galaxy Store for earlier versions, the Camera Controller app has exclusively functioned with Samsung's high-end flagship models. Specifically, this encompasses any member of the Galaxy S-series starting from the Galaxy S10 series onward, the Galaxy Note 9 and Note 10 models, as well as the entire lineup of first-generation Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip models, extending up to the latest iterations - the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
