The murders of four University of Idaho students earlier this month, which shocked the entire nation, terrified the small town of Moscow. But it's tough to put into words what it caused to the relatives of the victims. Father of one of the four fatalities, Kaylee Goncalves, Steve Goncalves, explained why his family won't be holding a funeral for his daughter. Kaylee Goncalves & Steve Goncalves Kaylee was killed on November 13 at an Idaho group home. Along with her close friend Madison Mogen, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Kernodle's boyfriend Ethan Chapin, 20, the 21-year-old was also killed. According to Steve, the family still lacks the fortitude to hold a memorial ceremony for their daughter. . "My wife’s biggest fear, part of the reason we didn’t have a funeral, is because she couldn’t be guaranteed that that monster was going to not be there," Goncalves told ABC News.kalyee-goncalves-ethan-chapin-xana-kernodle-madison-mogen Despite the fact that there have been no results and the murderer is still at large, Goncalves remarked that he continues to support and have confidence in the law enforcement professionals handling the investigation. "I have to assume and hope that this is all part of their plan and they've got this all figured out. I know that there's some really good, hard-working guys and girls that are on this case that I've met. And they looked me in the eyes and they told me straight-out that they're working and they're doing everything in their power." "You can't imagine sending your girl to college and they come back ... in an urn," Goncalves said. "You're numb ... you can't absorb that amount of pain and agony." Investigators believe the four victims were killed between three and four in the morning, but Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke, the two surviving housemates, didn't ask for assistance until later in the day. According to the authorities, Mortensen and Funke are not considered suspects. Goncalves says that his daughter and the other victims died quickly in the attack, suffering from "large punctures" from a "brutal weapon." "Nobody suffered and nobody felt like that kind of pain. The detective said this weapon is probably something (the killer) paid money for and something that they’re proud of," he said. Even though the case hasn't had much progress, Goncalves said he could not stomach the thought that his daughter was murdered while the killer was "having a great life out there." "I have to have my justice. These families deserve that," he said.
