Intel Arc A770 GPU leak may concern some gamers

The A7 series of Intel's top-end Arc graphics cards have been spotted in some leaked benchmarks with interesting results - which, admittedly, must be tempered liberally with the usual caveats. So, take this as a rumour, but VideoCardz(opens in new tab) reports that Geekbench results for the Intel Arc A770 and A750 GPUs have appeared (the Limited Edition versions, meaning the ones made by Intel itself, much like Nvidia and its Founders Edition cards). Both graphics cards were tested in a PC with an Intel Core i9-12900KS processor using Vulkan and OpenCL (the fastest Alder Lake chip). The A770 scored 73,536 points in the Vulkan test, while the A750 came in second with 66,609. Intel Arc A770 GPU Analysis: Putting things into context This is an intriguing leak because these are the first external results for A7 GPUs outside of Intel's boasts. Based on Intel's own performance comparisons, Team Blue promised that the Arc A770 will compete with Nvidia's RTX 3060 Ti, while the A750 will compete with the RTX 3060. Which, as with any internal benchmarking, should be taken with a grain of salt, given that the most favourable metrics are always chosen for obvious marketing reasons. In these benchmarks, we can see that the A770 is roughly on par with the RTX 3060, but not the 3060 Ti, and that the A750 lags behind. Of course, even in the world of synthetic benchmarks, Geekbench scores are not the best way to judge gaming, and a case in point with the results shared here are the wonky scores for the AMD RX 6700 XT. Intel Arc A770 GPU leak In any case, what we can glean here is limited, and we'll have to wait for extensive testing and reviews of the Arc A770 and A750 to find out how they'll actually perform. The good news is that we already know Intel is aiming for aggressive pricing, which is something we hoped for with Arc GPUs from the start, and that for economical prices. Assuming - and given the way the Arc unveiling has gone so far, we shouldn't assume too much - that the launch goes off on time and smoothly, with plenty of stock of Intel's own A7 GPUs. Hopefully, Limited Edition is just a name chosen by Intel, similar to Founders Edition, and not an indication that volume will be limited, implying that there won't be as many GPUs on shelves.
