Ionic Smartwatch Owners' Complaints to Fitbit About the Delayed Refund Process

All of Fitbit's Ionic smartwatches were recalled in March by the Google-owned consumer electronics and fitness company, but seven months later, many users claim they are still waiting for compensation for the potentially defective product even if they have returned it. According to a Fast Company story, Fitbit sold over 1 million Ionic watches in the US before the 2020 production deadline. Additionally, there were roughly 700,000 units sold abroad. The company reportedly plans to release an upgraded version of the device soon. As time passed and customers kept using the goods, a small percentage of them started to express worries that the battery had overheated. Ionic Smartwatch Owners' Complaints to Fitbit About the Delayed Refund Process As a result, Fitbit was forced to recall all of its Ionic devices due to the possibility that they could catch fire. At least 115 people in the U.S. complained to Fitbit about the watch's battery getting too hot.  Also Read: What to Expect from the Release of iPadOS 16.1 in Late October In the United States, 78 persons reported having burn injuries, of which two suffered third-degree burns and four reported second-degree burns, according to the findings of the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission. There were 59 instances of the watch overheating worldwide, and 40 users reported having their skin burned as a result. In a lawsuit filed in federal court in California in late April, two women claimed that many of the company's smartwatches were prone to overheating and inflicting burns on their wearers. Ionic Smartwatch Owners' Complaints to Fitbit About the Delayed Refund Process The company advised customers to stop using the watch and contact Fitbit to return the item in the notice. Customers who returned the device would receive a $299 refund plus a coupon good for 40% off selected Fitbit items, according to the company. Fast Company received an email from Fitbit stating that the money will be disbursed three to six weeks after the customer registered for the refund and had their account verified. The number of customers who have not yet received compensation is impossible to calculate, despite the fact that the topic frequently comes up on Fitbit's community board and on social media.  Evidently, this is where clients express their complaints about the business'
