Popular media player and media center interface Kodi was formerly known as XBMC. Version 20 is currently available and is dubbed "Nexus." It powers everything from customized home theater PCs to embedded players. Although Kodi 20 isn't a revolutionary update that will fundamentally alter how you stream video or use Kodi add-ons, it is noteworthy because the team claims over 4,600 code changes were made for this version. According to the blog post, the majority of the modifications are "under the hood" and invisible to users, but they enhance Kodi's stability, performance, and safety. New skinning features have been added thanks to improvements made to the API for Python and Binary add-ons. On most, if not all, Kodi platforms, Kodi dependencies have been updated. On Windows PCs, NFSv4 and HDR are both compatible as well as full support for AV1 video hardware decoding. The entire UI has seen better context menus (right-click menus). The subtitle system has undergone significant reworking to provide dynamic positioning, varying border and background colors, better positioning, and much more. With the help of libretro, Kodi can also save and load game states, and multiple binary add-on instances are also supported for the first time. Especially on DIY systems like Raspberry Pi players and home theater PCs, Kodi remains one of the most well-liked media center experiences available. However, Kodi is also accessible on desktop PCs, Android phones and tablets, and other platforms. It is most frequently used on TVs and other devices where a remote control is most practical. Although it and Plex, which may also be used to play local and remote media, have certain similarities, they are not exactly direct competitors. If you find Kodi beneficial, think about contributing to the cause by giving money or purchasing merchandise.
