Lucinda Treat Becomes the First CEO of Crooked Media

Crooked Media wants to expand its empire of progressive-politics podcasts. Therefore, the L.A.-based media firm appointed Lucinda Treat, Vice Media Group's chief legal officer for the previous four years, as its first CEO. 

About Crooked Media

Crooked Media has three founders who formed the business in 2017 after each had worked as an advisor in the White House under President Obama. It produces more than 30 podcasts, including the popular "Pod Save America." Its mission is to make "smart, funny, inspiring content that reflects people's values and life experiences

Lucinda Treat as Crooked Media's first CEO

Treat will begin serving as Crooked Media's first CEO on October 3 after over two decades in media, entertainment, and professional sports. Over this weekend, she will move from the New York region to Los Angeles. Lucinda Treat Becomes the First CEO of Crooked Media In an interview with Variety, Treat stated, "I really believe in doing things that are purpose-driven in my life, and this was an incredible match." About the company, she said, "They have growth ambitions that match what their audience wants. They have an incredible content slate they have built and expanded – there's an opportunity to go into other formats and deepen their relationship with their audience." Furthermore, Crooked's founders and COO Sarah Wick interviewed dozens of candidates for the position of CEO before settling on Treat, according to Vietor. He mentioned Lucinda's experience assisting with expanding a media company and how her beliefs coincided with those of Crooked Media, saying, "We were excited about Lucinda from the moment we met her." On the other hand, Treat claimed that Favreau, Lovett, and Vietor would have more time to devote to creative endeavors due to her hiring as CEO. Lucinda Treat Becomes the First CEO of Crooked Media

On another note, at the moment, Crooked Media employs 88 people full-time. Although the corporation doesn't have a specific headcount goal, it plans to increase hiring. The company disclosed that it would expand, but Treat insisted they do so sustainably. With more than 1.3 billion downloads of Crooked episodes to date, the company's business has grown beyond podcasting to include live shows, newsletters, video, TV and film, books, and satellite radio, thanks to its deal with SiriusXM. With Treat joining as CEO and the additional funding from Soros Fund Management, Crooked Media hopes to grow its TV and film industries.
