The somewhat contentious trend aims to instill a much-needed lesson in drivers of Tesla Model Y or Model 3 vehicles that are parked in a Supercharger area but not connected to the charger. Due to the fact that Tesla now charges up to $1 per minute, the consequent idle fees might pile up quickly. For EV owners who need to swiftly charge their electric car during their daily commute or long-awaited road vacation, lengthy lineups and wait times can be a significant hassle. Although they don't actually need to charge them, a small percentage of Tesla owners in the US and China continue to park their battery-powered cars in Supercharger places. This may have repercussions for certain owners of the Tesla Model Y and Model 3. [caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="1230"]Tesla Model Y vs. Model 3: What are the key differences? Photo Credit: Teslarati[/caption] Angry Tesla drivers are now actively attempting to "discourage" this irresponsible behavior, which is a more or less contentious trend. Teslarati reported that some vigilantes are taking matters into their own hands by merely plugging the parking infractionists' EVs into the Supercharger, citing a number of social media posts. The owners of these Tesla Model 3 and Model Y will consequently be responsible for paying a "idle fee," which can add up quickly. These idle charges are presently $0.50 or $1 per minute in the United States, depending on how busy the specific Supercharger is. Therefore, for these parking offenders, even relaxing shopping visits can rapidly turn into expensive ones. Therefore, it is uncertain whether Tesla would implement a corresponding software upgrade to curtail these Supercharger vigilantes anytime soon.
