Musk and Zelensky at Odds Over Peace Plan Poll

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, retaliated against Elon Musk after the Tesla CEO shared a Twitter poll with his ideas for stopping Russia's invasion. Consequently, Mr. Musk polled his 107.7 million followers on ideas, including giving Russia more land. As a retort, Mr. Zelensky published a poll of his own asking readers if they liked the richest person in the world more when he supported Ukraine. In addition, other Ukrainians also criticized Mr. Musk. For instance, Andrij Melnyk, the outgoing ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, used a strong expletive and referred to it as his "very diplomatic reply." "This is moral idiocy, repetition of Kremlin propaganda, a betrayal of Ukrainian courage & sacrifice," declared Russian chess grandmaster Garry Kasparov. Musk and Zelensky Moreover, Mr. Musk’s ideas included votes in regions of Ukraine currently occupied by Russia that Russia claims it is annexing. “Russia leaves if that is the will of the people,” the multibillionaire said.

What’s more

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia already annexed four Ukrainian regions after so-called referendums that Kyiv and its Western allies deemed fake. However, all four of these regions are not entirely under Russian authority. Mr. Musk also advocated for the world to recognize Crimea as a part of Russia, which it annexed in 2014. Musk and Zelensky On another note, the poll received over 2 million votes ten hours after it was posted. On the other hand, in response, Mr. Zelensky created his own poll and posed the following questions: "Which @elonmusk do you like more? One who supports Ukraine [or] One who supports Russia." And that poll received more than 1.5 million votes eight hours after Mr. Zelensky posted it. Interestingly, Mr. Musk's satellite internet business delivered equipment to Ukraine earlier during Russia's incursion. Hence, because of this, Musk became well-liked in the country, after which Zelensky invited him to visit when the war with Russia ended.
