NASA EV: Driving Artemis Crew To The Moon

As part of the Artemis II mission scheduled for next year, NASA and electric vehicle startup Canoo Technologies have unveiled the vehicle. This vehicle will carry the next generation of lunar astronauts to the Kennedy Space Centre launchpad. Confirming that every system on the spaceship functions as intended while the crew is inside and in the real deep space environment is the goal of the Artemis 2 mission. The space agency first debuted the car earlier this year. But on Sunday, it provided a better look at its sleek exterior and opulent inside to those in attendance at the Formula 1 race in Austin, Texas.

The Role Of The EV Car For The Moon Mission By NASA

The four Artemis II astronauts will be transported by three of the new electric cars in November of next year. The car will take off from the Neil Armstrong Operations and Checkout Building at the Kennedy Space Center to Launch Pad 39B. Which is approximately eight miles distant and will be home to the SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft. Read More: Webb Telescope Spots Super-Fast Wind on Jupiter Charlie Blackwell-Thompson, NASA's Artemis launch director, stated earlier this year that Canoo and our NASA personnel worked together to ensure the crews' comfort and safety before their trip to the moon. "I'm sure that everyone who sees these new cars will be as proud of this next round of crewed Artemis missions as I am." Instead of making a lunar landing, the Artemis II astronauts will fly by while tracing the same route as the unmanned Artemis I. This is the Artemis I test flight from the previous year, which arrived within 80 miles of the moon. The purpose of the ten-day Artemis II mission is to validate the crew support system of the Orion spacecraft. If the mission is successful, it will pave the way for Artemis III. Scheduled to launch in 2025. And it also aims to land the first woman and person of color on the moon.
