No, Tesla Cybertruck production will not be delayed any further

There are reports that Tesla Cybertruck production has been delayed yet again, but these are based on a shaky and confusing report. There is no proof that the electric truck is running late. When Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck in 2019, the company stated that the electric pickup truck would be available by the end of 2021. As the deadline approached, the auto manufacturer confirmed that production would be delayed until 2022. Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, later stated that the electric pickup truck would begin production at Gigafactory Texas in "late 2022." With the emphasis clearly on getting the Model Y into production at the factory, which was also delayed, it appeared likely that the Cybertruck production timeframe would slip as well. Image: Tesla[/caption] It was confirmed in March 2022 that Tesla intends to finish Cybertruck development this year for production in 2023, and Musk stated in June that Tesla intends to begin production in 2023. Tesla has stuck to a mid-2023 timeline in its communications over the past few months, and it is beginning to become more than just words with actual production equipment arriving at Gigafactory Texas. According to a Reuters report based on two anonymous sources, Cybertryc will enter "mass production" by the end of 2023: The report is vague and contains no new information, but that hasn't stopped many other publications from stating that it means Cybertruck production has been pushed back. [caption id="attachment_59080" align="aligncenter" width="2560"]No, Tesla Cybertruck production will not be delayed any further. Image: Tesla[/caption] In fact, the report suggests that Cybertruck production is on schedule, because "mass production" typically occurs about a year after production begins. As a result, if Reuters is correct and "mass production" occurs at the end of 2023, and production begins in mid-2023, Tesla will attain its fastest production ramp ever with the Cybertruck. Maybe the report is founded on some suppliers – based on the schedule that Tesla gave them – which is most likely more aggressive than it actually planned to be, to make sure that the suppliers are not the bottleneck. That makes more sense to me, but ultimately, I think it’s safer to assume that Tesla will not produce significant volumes of Cybertruck in 2023.
