In the most recent wave of updates for Google's
Bard chatbot AI, a few
new features and capabilities were added, including enhanced linguistic understanding, more subtle response controls, and the capacity to react orally in addition to text. The AI can currently communicate in close to 40 different languages.
Users can now communicate with the AI in a variety of languages, including Arabic, Chinese, German, Hindi, and Spanish, and they can access the platform from more locations on the planet, including Brazil and "across Europe," according to a
blog post published on Thursday by Jack Krawczyk, a Bard Product Lead, and Amarnag Subramanya, a Bard VP of Engineering. "As we bring Bard to more regions and languages over time, we’ll continue to use our AI Principles as a guide, incorporate user feedback, and take steps to protect people’s privacy and data."

Now, Bard actually speaks. Users will have the choice of reading or listening to the AI-generated responses, which Krawczyk and Subramanya believe will be quite helpful when users want to hear how words should be pronounced in those 40 newly added languages. Bard's level of friendliness may now be more effectively controlled by users thanks to five different settings for the AI's tone: simple, long, short, professional, or informal. Those are currently only available on requests in the English language, but the business is already planning to expand it to more of the 40 "soon."

Along with snazzy new multimodal eyes, the chatbot now has the ability to understand photos that are thrown into the chat through the prompt area. Users can ask for more information about the contents of the image or create content like captions based on it faster and easier than posting it as a document. As of right now, only English is available.

It is no longer as difficult to get the data and code that Bard generates out of the chat window and into the hands of collaborators. Users can now export Python code produced by Bard to Replit in addition to Colab as of Thursday. Additionally, they will be able to duplicate and distribute specific chats to other individuals. With the advent of pinned discussions, which are exactly what they sound like, and the ability to rename them, the process of organizing and reviewing previous talks is also being streamlined.
