Prepare for an incredible light show in the skies this Thursday, October 20, and Friday, October 21 as the Orionid 2022 meteor shower approaches.  One of the most eagerly awaited annual events can be seen from space for free and by anyone if you catch it at the right time and in the right place. Prepare your picnic blankets, some snacks, and jackets to keep you warm on the chilly, windy night you'll need to sit outside to see the Orionid at its best. In contrast to other meteor showers in the skies, the Orionid has a lengthy window of availability, according to EarthSky.org. Orionid Meteor Shower Will Peak on Friday, 2022 The Earth is already close to the location of the Orionid, which is expected to arrive during this time of the year as Earth passes by Halley's Comet's remnants. According to Space.com, meteors appear quickly in the sky but leave behind long trails that the general public can see as well as bright lights that make them easier to spot.
