Police charged a Pennsylvania woman with the murder of her elderly parents, whose bodies were discovered in their home on Tuesday. When police responded to a 911 call from her brother, they found Verity Beck, 43, living with her parents Reid and Miriam Beck, 73 and 72, according to ABC6 News. He was worried that during a visit to the house earlier Tuesday night, he had spotted a body under a blanket, according to the criminal complaint. Furthermore, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele revealed during a press conference on Wednesday, authorities discovered both parents in "different stages of dismemberment." He added, "There were signs of extreme trauma and I'll tell you that a chainsaw was found. Verity used this chainsaw and then had put parts of her parents into trash bags and had covered them up, and they were actually in two different trash cans." According to the autopsy, Reid and Miriam both passed away from head wounds from gunshots. During the press release, Steele remarked, "We pray that that happened first." More details

According to authorities, before dialing 911, the Pennsylvania woman told her brother that things were "bad" at home, and he advised her to call the police. However, Verity said that she needed "more time." After that visit, at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, he dialed 911, according to Steele. Moreover, Steele added that it seemed likely that the killings happened over a period of time. According to the criminal complaint, a newspaper from January 7 that had not been read was found in the house. And that day was the last time Verity's brother spoke to his mother, a former school nurse. On another note, Steele was unable to provide a confirmed motive for the double homicide. However, there was proof that someone had attempted to break into a safe inside the residence. Lastly, Verity is being jailed without bond after being accused of first-degree and third-degree murder. However, it is uncertain if she has obtained legal counsel.
