RedMagic 8 Pro is the world's first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 gaming smartphone

Aside from its close relationship with ZTE, Nubia is well-known for its RedMagic series of gaming phones, which feature massive batteries, high refresh rate displays, and other gaming-specific features. With the announcement of Qualcomm's next-generation chip, Nubia has become the world's first Android producer to unveil a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-based gaming phone, the RedMagic 8 Pro. The RedMagic 8 Pro and 8 Pro+ feature a dedicated Red Core 2 gaming chip to manage gaming effects such as sound details, colors, and haptic vibration feedback. Both phones house a 6.8-inch 120Hz OLED panel with a rated peak brightness of 1300 nits and ultra-thin 1.48mm size bezels. Ticking inside the gaming phones is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip that is cooled using RedMagic's ICE 11.0 cooling system. This consists of a 3D Icing VC liquid cooling plate, several layers of graphene sheets, a dedicated air inlet, and a built-in fan with 20,000 rpm. Nubia claims the upgraded cooling system improves heat conduction efficiency by 600% compared to previous models. The phone's back panel features a 50MP Samsung GN5 primary camera, an 8MP 120-degree ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro shooter. Other features provide stereo speakers, a 3.5mm audio jack, dual-SIM 5G, and a USB-C port on the bottom. On the phone's right side, two shoulder keys support 520Hz touch sampling. Source: RedMagic[/caption] The RedMagic 8 Pro is backed by a 6000mAh battery with 80W fast charging, while the Pro+ model has a 5,000mAh battery with 165W charging support. The latter can be charged from 0 to 100% in 14 minutes. The phones come pre-installed with RedMagic OS 6.0, which is based on Android 13. The RedMagic 8 Pro and Pro+ will be available for purchase in China beginning December 28, 2022. On January 16, 2023, the phones will make their international debut. Nubia will also eventually sell a Pro+ with a transparent back in the future. The Pro model has 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of storage space.
