A midrange smartphone that supports its 210W HyperCharge fast charging standard, the Note 12 Discovery Edition, has recently been unveiled by Xiaomi subsidiary Redmi. With that amount of power, the phone's 4,300mAh battery can be fully charged in just nine minutes. Put the phone on charge and jump in the shower; before you have a chance to dry yourself off, the battery will probably be fully charged. There has been an intense rivalry in recent years to provide faster and quicker charging speeds for mobile phones. Prior to rival Oppo's announcement of its own 150W SuperVOOC standard, Xiaomi offered 120W fast charging on its 11T Pro smartphone last year. The OnePlus 10T's 4,800mAh battery could already charge from zero to 100 percent in 19 minutes at 150W, so it's possible to argue that these fast charging standards have quickly reached a point of diminishing returns.
