The terror of I Know What You Did Last Summer is back to haunt us. According to several news outlets, Sony Pictures is working on a new sequel that will reunite two actors from the original 1997 movie and the 1998 sequel: Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. Furthermore, Leah McKendrick wrote the writing for the upcoming installment, which will be directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge), according to reports. In addition, Neal H. Moritz, who co-produced the original two movies as well as the direct-to-video film  I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006), which didn't have any of the original stars, is in talks to serve as the producer on the next sequel. Additionally, the original movie, which was directed by Jim Gillespie and stars Hewitt, Prinze, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Johnny Galecki, and Bridgette Wilson Sampras, is well-known. The film followed a group of teens who, a year after accidentally killing a man on the night of their high school graduation and attempting to cover it up, are chased by a killer brandishing a hook. What's more

In order to surprise the stars of the TV reboot, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Ryan Phillippe, crashed a virtual New York Comic Con panel. Hewitt made a joke about her final-girl character Julie James' famous ad-libbed line: "If they'd asked me years ago what I thought about [a TV series], I would have of course said, 'What are you waiting for, huh?! What are you waiting for?!'"
