Patrick Spence, the chief executive officer of Sonos, criticizes rival tech behemoths with audio offerings, like Google, Amazon, and Apple. Such comments were delivered by the Sonos CEO during the most recent earnings call for the first quarter of 2023. According to a recent report, Spence claims that there was no significant competition during the previous quarter, which included the holiday season. Giant companies like Google and Amazon haven't been as active with their audio products, so this is surprising. The tech news source observes that Google is currently totally committed to its Pixel hardware line. Well, aside from its desire to compete with Microsoft and OpenAI's AI alliance. On the other hand, it has been said that the massive online store Amazon, which sells smart speakers, is evaluating the effectiveness of its Alexa and Echo models. Even though Apple unveiled the brand-new HomePod, the second generation, it went on sale immediately following the holiday season. Sonos' CEO claims that "the big tech firms," like Apple and Google, "we just [have not] seen them active." But Spence insists that they "never want to grow overconfident in these things" despite this. However, the CEO of Sonos claims that after witnessing Apple's new product, he "could not be more excited or confident" about the impending offerings of his audio company. The audio company stated that it would launch its new speaker in 2023. According to rumors, Sonos is developing the Era 300 and Era 100, two brand-new high-end speakers. According to Hifi, the reported new Era series probably supports Dolby Atmos and spatial audio. The new higher-end products purportedly include Bluetooth and Wifi 6 capability out of the box in addition to these new features. What Hifi says is that if this is accurate, it would be a first for Sonos speakers. The report claimed that Sonos is also developing a new version of its portable speaker, the Sonos Move, in addition to the Era line-up. Sonos has not yet officially endorsed these conceivably future speakers, though.
