Principal Duvall and Ms. Norbury are returning to North Shore High! Tim Meadows and Tina Fey will both reprise their roles in the upcoming
Mean Girls movie musical, which is based on their 2004 movie of the same name and the accompanying Broadway production. Additionally, Fey made the announcement during an appearance on
Late Night with Seth Meyers last Thursday.
Fey, 52, lauded the "amazing cast" of the new movie, which stars Angourie Rice as Cady, Reneé Rapp as Regina, Auli'i Cravalho as Janis, and Jaquel Spivey as Damian, after confirming that production will start on March 6. In addition, Seth Meyers added of Fey and Meadows, 62, fellow former cast members of
Saturday Night Live, "I do want to give you credit, you and Tim had parts in the original film that you couldn't age out of."
Fey laughed and concurred, "Teachers work forever. I want it to be like when Gilligan from Gilligan's Island would be at a trade show and you'd be like, 'Oh, he looks so old in his little hat.' That's my goal."

Meyers, 49, then asked Fey if they had to change the songs from the Broadway production for the movie, and Fey replied that they were striving for a more "pop" feel. She stated, "It's a fascinating process, actually, because [on] Broadway, everything has to play to the back of the house. And in movies, you can kind of come back in and things can play really intimately."
"It's gonna be good," Fey assured and praised their "very cool directing team" and choreographer.
Additional details
Tina Fey and Tim Meadows played Ms. Norbury and Principal Duvall, respectively, in the first movie. Due to the untouchable "Plastics" clique, which is represented by Lindsay Lohan (Cady Heron), Rachel McAdams (Regina George), Lacey Chabert (Gretchen Wieners), and Amanda Seyfried (Karen Smith), the educators are tasked with maintaining order at the high school.
Furthermore, according to reports, the film will make its debut on Paramount+. Additionally, the 2004 film and the Broadway production's writers, Fey and Lorne Michaels of
SNL, will produce under the direction of Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr. The screenplay will also be written by Fey. And Nell Benjamin will write the lyrics, while Fey's husband Jeff Richmond will compose the music.
