Image Source: FoneArena Sub-brands were formerly a popular approach for China's major smartphone makers to reach out to new groups while maintaining their brand image. The two-pronged strategy meant that primary smartphone firms concentrated on the high-end market, while its sub-brands targeted the mid-range market. Once the global economic crisis took hold, however, several of these firms, such as Oppo and OnePlus, sought to consolidate resources in order to decrease expenses. Vivo, which is said to be reintegrating the iQOO brand into its core business, might follow suit. The acquisition implies that iQOO's branding and web business will once again be incorporated into Vivo's identity, with future iQOO models potentially joining the latter's smartphone lines. As part of the consolidation, the sub-independent brand's stores and counters are also expected to close. Before the latter was split off as a separate business, Vivo and iQOO shared resources such as research and development staff and a supply chain. Nonetheless, they had separate planning methodologies, e-commerce operations, and media strategies. iQOO may soon return to the Vivo fold. Using the same pattern, 2020 spin-off of its former sub-brand, Poco., in 2020. With this strategy, Huawei and Oppo solidified their respective positions among the top Android phone companies. Oppo, a Vivo sister within the BBK family, launched the Realme brand in 2018 as a spin-off aimed to compete with Xiaomi's rising presence in India's developing smartphone market with Redmi. What is the future positioning of iQOO and how to integrate the staff are still unsure." It is unknown whether certain iQOO employees will be laid off as part of the restructuring or if the entire team will remain at Vivo.
