Image credit : Mashable Low power mode is an essential power-saving feature that automatically lowers down the brightness of the screen. Also, it will automatically turn down the clock speed in order to minimize the power consumption. Fortunately, Apple has offered this convenient mode in Mac also which was initially limited to iPhones only. Activating low power mode can help your system run smoother. 

How to enable low power mode in macOS Monterey

To enable Low Power Mode on your MacBook, follow these steps:
  • Open System Preferences.
  • Choose the Battery option.
  • In the left sidebar, click on Battery. To activate Low Power Mode while using your MacBook on its battery, mark the checkbox.
You can also opt to enable Low Power Mode even when your MacBook is plugged in. In the left sidebar, select Power Adapter. To activate Low Power Mode while your MacBook is connected to the power adapter, tick the checkbox. This should result in your Mac running smoothly when this mode is activated. How to enable low power mode in macOS Ventura

To enable Low Power Mode in macOS Ventura, follow these steps:
  • Go to Battery System Settings
  • Select Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Battery in the column. (You may need to scroll down.)
  • Click the pop-up menu next to Low Power Mode on the right, then select any of the options available like Always, Only on battery, or Only on power adapter.
  • Click the Info button located beside Battery Health on the right-hand side. Afterward, enable Optimized Battery Charging and "Manage battery longevity."
  • Next, select Options on the right-hand side, and then activate "Put hard disks to sleep when feasible" and "Automatic graphics switching."

What does these options mean

Never: The MacBook will operate as usual. Always: The MacBook operated with the brightness and the system clock slightly disabled, even if the device is plugged out. Only on Battery: When the MacBook is not connected to the power source, the brightness and system clock is turned down. When the MacBook is connected to the power outlet, the MacBook operates with usual brightness and clock speed. When the device is not connected to the power source, the device operates at normal brightness and clock speed.
