Claims that founder Arielle Charnas's husband Brandon Charnas misappropriated money from the apparel industry were categorically denied by Something Navy CEO Matthew Scanlan. “This is categorically false,” Scanlan said in a statement on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. “Brandon Charnas does not have access to company bank accounts. He is not an employee of the company, and he has no access points,” he added. According to reports, rumors about Arielle, 35, and Brandon's marriage are also circulating online. Despite speculations that the couple is divorcing, a Something Navy spokesman told E! News that the rumors are "patently false" and added that "they are happily married and in love." A source added, "There was absolutely no embezzlement. This is all part of a disgusting, coordinated smear campaign attempting to damage Arielle and Brandon's reputations and lives." On Tuesday, December 6 at night, rumors of the couple's divorce started to circulate on Reddit and other social media websites. Additionally, there were rumors that Brandon, the co-founder of Current Real Estate, had defrauded Something Navy of money. Arielle initially started Something Navy as a blog in 2009. Together, she and Brandon have three kids: Ruby, age 6, Esme, age 4, and Navy, age 18. More than ten years later, the brand has developed into a clothing line, and as of November 2021, Business Insider pegs its value at $100 million. Arielle's first collection with Nordstrom, the Treasure & Bond collaboration, had its debut in 2017 and sold more than $1 million in a single day. The following year, Arielle once again worked with the renowned retailer to introduce her Something Navy range, which the outlet said brought in more than $4.4 million in sales in a single day. The couple, who got married in 2014, thought in March 2020 on reassessing their ties amid their ever-expanding personal individual careers. "The issue is she gives too much," Brandon told Barbara Corcoran in a March 2020 joint interview with Arielle. "She just thinks everything should be unconditional and at the end of the day, you only have your family and everyone else that are friends—there's always a transaction occurring." Although Brandon said he "understood" the nature of such connections, he continued by saying that one aspect will always be more critical. "Just do what you make you happy," he said, adding, "As long you have your family and your kids, that's all that matters."
