On Friday, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah received a six-and-a-half-year prison term. The television actor entered a guilty plea in July for participating in a telemarketing scheme that preyed on the weak.
Additionally, Shah has expressed regret for her actions and promised to "work for the rest of my life to make it right." She stipulated in her plea agreement to forfeit $6.5 million (£5.3 million). In addition, she shall pay compensation of up to $9.5 million (£7.8 million). Furthermore, Shah was given a 78-month prison term after her counsel requested a three-year sentence and the prosecution suggested a 10-year term.

For those out of the loop, Jen Shah, 49, and her former assistant Stuart Smith, who has also entered a guilty plea, are accused by the prosecution of creating lists of vulnerable victims, including the elderly and selling them to other participants in the fraud scheme. In addition, authorities claimed that Shah was the defendant in the case who was the "most culpable" in court documents.
Additional details
According to prosecutors, the scheme has deceived thousands of people since 2012. A victim testimony stated that among the victims was a widow in her 70s who lost half of her life savings and another individual with a health issue who lost money to the plan to pay for false business prospects and ended up homeless.
Moreover, Shah was detained in March 2021 while being filmed for Bravo's Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. The reality star constantly promoted her opulent lifestyle during the show, including her pricey accessories, apparel, and a group of many aides known as the "Shah squad."

On another note, she first entered a not-guilty plea and continued to do so for the majority of the third season of the show. Additionally, Shah's past explanations of her employment and financial condition frequently left fellow cast members and viewers perplexed.
In a 2019 interview, she remarked, "What I've done for the last 20 years is direct response marketing. I make millions.”
Lastly, on February 17, Shah will surrender to federal prison.
