Battery life of new DualSense Edge controllers for PS5 has been tipped prior to release

Sony's $200 DualSense Edge controller, which will compete with the Xbox Elite controller, has a wealth of customization options for serious gamers, including modular joysticks that are simple to swap out. But it will also have a lesser battery life than the DualSense that comes standard with the PlayStation 5. On January 23, Sony will release DualSense Edge, its most costly PlayStation 5 controller yet. It will have additional hardcore player capabilities and cost US$199, about three times as much as the PS5 DualSense. Gaming benefits include the ability to memorize profiles and switch between them instantly, as well as the ability to configure the trigger travel in three different ways depending on the game genre (from shorter bursts in shooters to deeper travel in racing games). The possibility to swap the modular sticks with US$19.99 units when they begin to drift somewhat justifies the premium DualSense Edge pricing. The joystick sensitivity and dead zones may also be adjusted. However, the DualSense Edge's customizability doesn't stop there. For players concerned about the lag difference between a wired and wireless PlayStation 5 controller connection, the DualSense Edge also includes swappable back buttons in various styles in a separate casing. According to Sony, the DualSense Edge's battery life will be a little bit lower than that of the PlayStation 5 controller currently in use: Due to the addition of numerous capabilities while maintaining the same ergonomic form factor as the original DualSense controller, the DualSense Edge wireless controller's operational time is slightly less than that of the DualSense wireless controller. We sought to give comprehensive, high-performance features while maintaining a healthy balance between wireless operating time. Additionally, for competitive players who prefer playing with a connected connection to minimize wifi interference and want to preserve battery life, the longer USB braided cable is perfect. However, considering that Sony is promoting the wired USB-C cable connection option, one shouldn't anticipate the 12 to 15 hours of battery life of the original DualSense controller. It is still unknown exactly how much lower the DualSense Edge battery life will be compared to the DualSense controller. The DualSense Edge is compatible with the PS5 controller, so now is the time to buy one (it costs $29.99 on Amazon).
