When playing games, CFI-1202A and CFI-1202B should use less power than their predecessors. The most recent PlayStation 5 updates from Sony have now arrived in Europe. The CFI-1202A and CFI-1202B updates, which are now offered in a particular package, rely on an APU with greater efficiency built on AMD's Oberon Plus architecture. The most recent PlayStation 5 updates from Sony have now begun to arrive in Europe. Recall that the business unveiled the third generation of its most recent console during the summer and gave the disc- and disc-less versions model numbers CFI-1202A and CFI-1202B, respectively. Sony released these in September, but it wasn't until late October that they were available in the Eurozone. In Europe, Sony PlayStation 5 now supports AMD Oberon Plus 6 nm According to WinFuture, Sony is only offering the CFI-1202A and CFI-1202B as part of its God of War: Ragnarök bundle in Europe. The APU in the CFI-1202 series has been updated, as we covered last month. The Oberon Plus architecture from AMD, which replaces the Oberon architecture, is the one that Sony has chosen to use. For comparison, AMD designed Oberon Plus with around 6 nm nodes while Oberon uses 7 nm nodes. In Europe, Sony PlayStation 5 now supports AMD Oberon Plus 6 nm On the one hand, upgrading to Oberon Plus shouldn't result in any performance gains. The CFI-1202 models, on the other hand, draw 20–30 W less from the wall than their predecessors as a result of the die reduction. Theoretically, the decreased power usage will result in annual energy cost savings, but only by enough to pay for a used PS5 game. Due to a lower heatsink, CFI-1202 models are also 600 g lighter than the original PS5 or 300 g lighter than its predecessors. In other words, CFI-1202A and CFI-1202B should help Sony to lower production costs while also passing cost savings through to customers.
