Did Elon Musk Make Fun of Black Twitter Staff BLM Initiatives?

Recent tweets from Twitter HQ: According to reports, Twitter CEO Elon Musk appeared to make light of the platform's anti-racism activities. A number of tweets, some of which have been deleted as of this writing, capture this. The Independent claims that the billionaire seemed to be amused by statement t-shirts created for black employees of Twitter by members of the company's internal business division. Elon recorded a closet full of t-shirts with the words "#STAYWOKE" printed on them in a 12-second video that was earlier released online on Wednesday, Nov. 23.  Two hard laugh emojis are used in Elon Musk's caption, which reads, "Found in a closet at Twitter HQ fr." Afterward, the head of Twitter lambasted Black Lives Matter demonstrators, claiming that the shirts he displayed in the video were from protests in Ferguson, Missouri.  Additionally, he discussed how the protests that were held in that region were actually incorrect. The car and technology tycoon asserted that the expression "Hands up, don't shoot" is untrue.  The Independent claims that Musk eventually removed that post and instead just shared a link to the Department of Justice report into Michael Brown's death, which spurred those protests. Musk declared, "The entire thing was fiction." The aforementioned Twitter group was established in 2014 with the intention of establishing a safe environment for the Black community as a business resource group for "Black Tweeps" and sympathizers. Blackbird, a well-known resource organization for Black employees and sympathizers, was formed by Shavone Charles. Blackbirds stated their goal was to "support and encourage diversity at Twitter, create a more inclusive work environment, and enrich communities outside of Twitter" when they first began selling the shirts in April 2016. The phrase "awake" has grown in popularity over the past several years as groups hold demonstrations to call attention to numerous societal injustices. The term has gained popularity online as a synonym for moral superiority or extreme political correctness. The collective has already made it clear that the slogan on the T-shirts reads, "Simply means to be informed about the events happening in the world around you."
