Dr. Phil will quit filming later this year after 21 seasons on our little screens. As daytime TV in the United States undergoes a significant shake-up, the decision makes the long-running program the latest in a succession of programs to be canceled, including The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Furthermore, the syndicated program, which has been in the spotlight for more than 20 years, will cease this year when the 21st season of the program concludes. In addition, the most recent episodes will still be broadcast, but it has ended in the past year, joining The Wendy Williams Show, Maury, and The Real.
Additionally, any episodes shown after this one will be reruns because CBS Media Ventures will continue to provide stations with older episodes in the years to come. The episodes will also have fresh material in the form of guest updates and introductions. With a new partnership, expected to debut in early 2024, Dr. Phil, whose real name is Phil Mcgrath, intends to concentrate on primetime programming.
He explained his decision to leave by saying, "I am compelled to engage with a broader audience because I have grave concerns for the American family, and I am determined to help restore a clarity of purpose as well as our core values."

What's more
On another note, Steve LoCascio, president of CBS Media Ventures, said in a statement, "Phil is a valued partner and member of the CBS/King World family, and while his show may be ending after 21 years, I’m happy to say our relationship is not."
He continued, "Phil changed the daytime landscape as the force behind one of the most popular talk shows ever on daytime TV — We plan to be in the Dr. Phil business with the library for years to come and welcome opportunities to work together in the future."
Lastly, Phil's popularity initially skyrocketed in the '90s as a result of his numerous appearances on The Oprah Winfrey Show. And in 2020, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in recognition of his achievements. He was also nominated for 31 Daytime Emmy Awards over the course of his remarkable career.
