Evan Peters received criticism from the mother of one of Jeffrey Dahmer's victims when he won a Golden Globe for portraying the killer who murdered her son. He won the award for Best Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series for his portrayal of serial killer Dahmer in the Netflix original series Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Evan, 35, claimed that it was a very difficult job. Additionally, Shirley Hughes, the mother of Dahmer victim Tony, has now stated that he should never have accepted the job. Shirley also insisted that Evan should have included the other victims' families during his speech when he accepted the prize at Tuesday's ceremony at the glamorous Beverly Hilton Hotel. Furthermore, Evan Peters, who also starred in X-Men and Kick Ass confessed on stage that he hoped his win and the series will lead to "something good." Shirley responded by applauding in return and claiming to TMZ that "nothing good will come from Evan's award" and that it "just adds to the grief for the families of the people Dahmer killed." What's more

"There's a lot of sick people around the world," Shirley continued, adding that Evan's win "replays the tragedy over and over." According to her, "People winning acting roles from playing killers keeps the obsession going and this makes sick people thrive on the fame." She said, referring to Evan accepting the Netflix gig in the first place, "It's a shame that people can take our tragedy and make money," adding, "The victims never saw a cent. We go through these emotions every day." In other news, The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, one of Netflix's all-time most popular series, swiftly broke streaming records last year. The series, which debuted in September 2022, rose to the ninth-most-watched English-language TV show on Netflix in just two weeks. Ryan Murphy, well known for creating American Horror Story, American Crime Story, and Glee, is the creator of the show.
