Google Fit vs Apple Health App: Which App Has Better Features?

After fighting over gadgets and apps for fun, Android and iOS are now competing in the healthcare field. Both ecosystems have a lot of apps for tracking your health and exercise. Some apps that are worth mentioning are Headspace, Lose It, Runtastic, and MyFitnessPal. Most of these apps, however, cost money or require you to sign up for a service. The best thing about them, though, is that they can work with Apple's or Google's health apps. Apple has made a great Health app that works well with its Watch line. Also, the company is putting twice as much work into fitness tracking in its next products. Meanwhile, the Android world has also made healthcare apps like Google Fit, which are much better than Samsung Health.

Google Fit

A competitor to Apple Health on the market. Like the Health app, the Fit app for Android lets users combine data from various devices into their own health app or send it to third-party apps. The idea is that users will be able to track their health metrics, such as the number of hours they sleep, their weight loss, the number of steps they take, and set exercise goals. Even though it started out with only the basics, the app has gone through a big redesign on both Android and Android Wear since then. It also has a web interface that lets you use it from anywhere. You can also look at your info on Google Fit's official website. It keeps track of your activities, miles travelled, estimated calories burned, and weight by using the GPS, sensors in your phone, and what you tell it. If a business doesn't include its own fitness app, Google Fit is the default fitness app for Wear OS devices, so if you buy a Wear OS smartwatch, you can expect to use Google Fit.

Apple Health

Since it first came out in 2014, it has changed a lot. Now, it works with more data sources, gets more information than before, and works well with Apple's wearable.  It's basically a hub for health apps that lets you keep track of all your health records in one place and connect them to it. It puts together information from your phone, fitness trackers, watch, sleep trackers, and other health apps. It gives you a quick look at everything you're doing, so you don't have to look at each app separately. Yes, it gives you the freedom to change and personalize your info. From keeping the most important facts to leaving out the least important. Apple Health takes info from your iPhone's motion sensors and GPS, so you don't need a separate device. Also, its API lets third-party apps like Nike+ Run Club, Strava, and MyFitnessPal add Apple Health's most important features. Features of Google Fit And Apple Health

You must be thinking that both are pretty cool health apps at this point. Both seem to have some things in common, but they also both have nice things about them. From the user interface to the main goal. But there are some things that neither of them has, which makes the situation even more interesting. Let's look at them one by one.  APIs - Apple's HealthKit, CareKit, and Research Kit make up the environment for different kinds of medical data. Google Fit, on the other hand, has APIs (application programming interfaces) that are based on its sensors, records, and history. Even iPhone app makers can use these APIs to make apps that gather data using device sensors.  Data Collection - The main difference between both of them is the types of data they collect. Google is more interested in medical data, while Apple cares more about digital health.  Accessibility - You can use Google Fit from anywhere because it has a web interface. You can look at your information on its main page. On the other hand, Apple HealthKit stores all of your info on your iOS device. Crossswitch Platform - This is where Google Fit beats Apple Health. The biggest problem with the Apple environment is that you can't use it on other platforms. Word in the tech world, though, is that the company has doubled down on its efforts to make things better, but it's still nowhere near Google or Microsoft. So, you can only use Apple Health on iOS and Apple Watch, but you can use Fit on Android, iOS, Android Wear, and Apple Watch.  Flexibility - HealthKit lets you keep track of everything, from how much carbs and fiber you eat to your body temperature. Fit, on the other hand, can't give such small information. Also, HealthKit was made to give you a full picture of your health, while Fit is more focused on your exercise goals. Real-time - Fit reads and stores data from your device and other apps in real-time using three major application programming interfaces (APIs). This lets you combine and handle data from different sources. Health, on the other hand, doesn't yet let your exercise devices use it as a real-time app for measuring workouts or analyzing them afterwards.  Also read - Apple introduces Quartz, a paid AI-powered health coach for its Health app

Common Features of Google Fit And Apple Health

Even though they are in a lot of competition with each other, they are still alike in some ways. What is that? Let's look at them one by one.
  • The main systems for wearable tech, such as Android Wear and the Apple Watch, are Google Fit and Apple Health, respectively.
  • Both were made to make it easier for people to make health apps.
  • Both let you connect to third-party apps so you can use their features or send health-tracking info to your phone.
  • Both try to solve the huge problem of putting a lot of information on your gadget.
  • Both apps are fitness trackers that you can use to keep track of your exercise routines.
  • Using your phone's GPS sensor and accelerometers, the apps keep track of your daily exercise based on your height and weight, the type of activity you do, the total distance you travel, the calories you burn, and other factors.
Many people would agree that iOS apps are better in terms of style and how they work. It's true that the best and most great apps come out first for iOS devices, and they also have fewer ads. But Android is still strong with the force. It still has the most users of any mobile platform in the world. Most phone makers use Android and its operating system to make their phones. Even though Apple is making more money, Google has a bigger story to tell in the market. Both have things to offer and things to give. Even if you have Apple Health and Fit, the first place you go when you have a sharp pain in your lower back is still Google.
