Google made an announcement regarding changes to how search results are shown on mobile devices on Friday, October 14.  The phrase "sponsored" will now be shown clearly next to the word "ad" in all sponsored results, taking its place. The domain name will now appear above the site's URL on a separate line rather than adjacent to it as before. site names on Google Search The internet giant claimed in a blog post that the new "sponsored" label would be obvious and present on all forms of paid content to ensure that advertisements are properly labeled. Site names and favicons are displayed higher in search results to make it easier to quickly recognize the website associated with each result. Prior to this upgrade, search results would include URLs, making it challenging to identify which websites were being referred to. Google made the following comment in the release: "This updated label and its prominent location continues to fulfill our high standards for being distinguished from search results and builds on our prior efforts to make information about paid content apparent." As part of the company's stated commitment to user openness, similar changes will also be made to adverts.
