Elon Musk sued Henrik Fisker for a contract breach at the
Beginning of Tesla's development. He charged that the well-known auto designer he hired to help style the Model S had conducted research before the launch of a rival manufacturer of rechargeable cars. The erratic billionaire CEO has now rekindled their argument by criticizing Fisker, whose new business starts making electric SUVs in November.
In reaction to a report that Karma Automotive was suing some of its former executives who left to work for EV startup DeLorean, Musk made a statement on Twitter. Following its bankruptcy in 2013 and Henrik Fisker's resignation, Irvine, California-based Karma Automotive bought the assets of the old Fisker Automotive.
In Musk's 2007 lawsuit against Henrik Fisker, a Tesla attorney charged him with creating his competing vehicle while working on the exterior and interior of "WhiteStar," a four-door sedan that would later become
Tesla's Model S. Musk lost the case in court in California. However, during the past 15 years, Musk hasn't made much of a fuss about it.
According to Fisker, "We won that fight fair and square." Musk is a knowledgeable person. I like working with him, he exclaimed. "I have nothing to do with Karma Auto, in case the memo didn't get to Elon in 2014!"
The new DeLorean is named after the notorious vehicle manufacturer founded by illustrious automobile designer John DeLorean, which furthers the confusion between Fisker's old and present businesses. Despite its failure in 1982, it is nevertheless regarded as a cultural icon because a DeLorean sports vehicle was featured in the Back to the Future movie series.
