How to use passkeys with your Google account

  1. Navigate to g.co/passkeys
  2. Sign in to your Google account with your password
  3. Create a new passkey or tap on the Use Passkeys button
  4. Log into your Google account on another device
  5. Use your fingerprint or PIN to log in
  6. Scan a QR code to log in instead

1. Navigate to g.co/passkeys

To begin utilizing passkeys with your Google account, open your browser on your computer or smartphone and navigate to g.co/passkeys.

2. Sign in to your Google account with your password

You will need to enter your password to log into your Google account in order to confirm that you are the one trying to set up passkeys.

3. Tap on the Use passkeys button or create a new passkey

Google may have automatically generated passkeys for your devices if you’re using one of the top Android smartphones or even a Chromebook. If so, all you have to do is tap the Use passkeys button to begin. To generate a passkey on your device, you must tap the generate a passkey button if you’re using an iPhone or if your smartphone isn’t mentioned.

4. Log into your Google account on another device

Open a new browser and go to Gmail.com to test using a passkey to log into your Google account. Instead of typing your password, select the Use your passkey option by tapping the Try another approach button.

5. Use your fingerprint or PIN to log in
