iFixit Found Something Quirky in the Pixel Watch, See Video

The latest iFixit disassembly video uncovers the innermost workings of the Pixel Watch. There are some amusing anomalies in this; Google's engineering is amazing but dubious. But weirdly enough, the sticky material iFixit discovered within this watch is what we're more interested in. Opening Pixel Watch is a rather simple procedure. Sort of like shucking a clam. To remove the display from the watch's body, you heat the device to weaken the adhesive, run a thin prying tool around the rim (avoiding any cords), and then do so. To our delight, the back panel of the Pixel Watch is likewise simple to take off (and is not affixed to the watch's sensors). Suddenly, things start to go strange. The Pixel Watch's back panel employs a somewhat peculiar adhesive, as noted by iFixit. Although it is sticky, it maintains its shape and does not disintegrate. But compared to the glue used to assemble other items, it appears to be far more manageable. We would want to see this adhesive used more frequently if it is necessary to line phones and smartwatches with glue. Other peculiarities of the Pixel Watch include a display cord that is difficult to repair and a huge speaker hole that feels a little flimsy.
