Apple announced the latest iPhone 14 range at its September event. The company also debuted an action mode video feature in its new iPhone 14 series. According to Apple, Action mode is even when the video is “being captured in the middle of the action.” Here’s how Apple describes Action mode:
“It uses the full sensor with more overscan and advanced roll correction to make the video look incredibly stable when you’re in the middle of the action. Toggle it on for a great-looking, smooth video without carrying extra gear like a gimbal. It also supports Dolby Vision HDR.”
Selecting the Action Mode in your iPhone 14 allows you to capture incredibly smooth-looking video. Here’s everything you need to know, including how Action mode works and which iPhone models support it.
What is Action Mode?
Thankfully, Apple offers several camera modes on the iPhone and iPad, including Portrait, Pano, Slow-mo, Cinematic mode, Slow-mo, and Time-lapse, and the newest is Action mode.
Apple has designed the new Action mode to help its user to shoot professional-looking video that adjusts to significant shakes, motion, and vibrations, even when the video is being captured in the middle of the action.
As explained by Apple, the Action Mode in iPhone 14 uses the full camera sensor with more overscan and advanced roll correction to achieve this effect.
However, the feature is built into the iPhone’s stock Camera app, and when enabled, it should allow you to capture video that looks similar to if you were using a gimbal.
In addition, Action mode can record up to 2.8K at 60 fps, supporting Dolby Vision HDR and ensuring outstanding video quality.
How to activate Action mode?
The camera modes built into your iPhone and iPad help you take the perfect photo or video. To capture a video with Action mode, open the Camera app on your iPhone and swipe left or right on the camera screen to switch to a different mode until you find Action mode.
You can select Photo, Portrait, Square, and Pano for photos. For videos, you can choose, Cinematic, Slow-mo, Time-lapse, and Action.
Which iPhone14 Models Support Action Mode?
Fortunately, all iPhone 14 models support Action mode out of the box, including iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Here’s how to begin capturing video with it.
