iPhone 15 Pro Max Reportedly Encountering Serious Heat Problems. Know Why?

Image credit : Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max has just been released and it has a lot of wow factors but many customers have shared their concerns regarding the overheating issue of the flagship device. The overheating of the device has led to fast battery drain. Some users have complained about the performance slowdown as well. According to the reports, iPhone 15 Pro Max is overheating due to its first 3nm phone’s A17 Pro chip, manufactured by TSMC. Interestingly, the A17 Pro chip was aimed at improving the overall performance of the device but it is now the potential source behind the heating and battery backup problems. Image credit : Apple[/caption] As per the heatmap analyst Revegnus, the flagship device saw enormous temperature rise which reached up to 48 degree Celsius or 118.4 degrees Fahrenheit after the testing. The device was hottest near the chip area even after normal use.

Furthermore, several tech enthusiasts including Youtuber Vadim Yuryev said that Apple raised the wattage of the A17 Pro chip to achieve the desired benchmark score, but this increase in power consumption may result in lower battery life and also lead to overheating.

Exactly what happened. TSMC didn't have good enough 3nm chip yields so they had to lower their efficiency standards to accept more A17 Pro dies which would've otherwise been tossed away into the trash.

I can confirm the iPhone 15 Pro Max A7 Pro throttling is bad. Apple needs to cool this chipset properly, just 2 minutes is all it took to lose almost 25% performance to drop to almost 34% after 20 minutes of GPU load. According to him, the device lost almost 25% of its performance within only 2 minutes and after 20 minutes of GPU load, performance diminished to nearly 34%. However, he mentioned that the benchmark stats are rather outstanding for a mobile chipset.
