According to reports, Japan's Ministry of Defense is now considering creating a new research organization that will support commercial technology with military applications and be modeled after a US agency. It will focus on cutting-edge initiatives in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and drones when it is launched in 2024. The Russian invasion of Ukraine served as the catalyst for this as the need to maintain a technological edge reappeared. Additionally, as part of its expansion, China is pushing for the fusion of military and civilian technology. Japan cannot afford to lag behind with outdated technology. Japan's first step will be to examine how foreign research organizations involved in national security are used. The results will be applied to household discussions. With a $4 billion budget, DARPA focuses on companies and researchers conducting ground-breaking research that has the potential to overthrow or completely replace current systems.  Although, there is a manager for each program who has the power to oversee high-risk projects. The predecessors to the modern internet and the Global Positioning System were developed by DARPA. In addition, the Defense Innovation Unit established in Silicon Valley will be investigated by the Japanese Defense Ministry.
