Kia EV6 GT: An EV That’s Fun to Drive

Kia is stepping up its game. The Hyundai Ioniq 5, the EV6's sibling vehicle, and vehicles like the Tesla Model 3 are frequently praised as some of the best EVs available today in their price range. Even the base model EV6 has some significant power for an electric vehicle, but the Kia EV6 GT-Line took things to the next level last year. With the Kia EV6 GT, Kia is now making the car even more remarkable. With the finest performance and the most stunning features, the EV6 GT is intended to be the top model in the EV6 family. And it makes sense why Kia is in this circumstance. While many automakers are currently releasing their first-generation electric vehicles, Kia has been working on them with vehicles like the Soul and Niro EV for years. Not to mention the EV6's initial generations.

Modified Layout

The Kia EV6 GT has undergone some design tweaks, but don't anticipate any significant ones; this is still the familiar EV6 with somewhat more aggressive accents and appearance. But those 21-inch wheels with their fluorescent green brake calipers are hard to miss. Although these brakes are not branded, they appear to be. Inside, you'll find sport bucket seats and matching neon green details that will make you feel like you're in a race vehicle. I wish Kia had taken the GT's edgy look a step further. To find any significant changes between the EV6 models, you must look fairly closely. Of course, some of it is intentional; according to Kia, the EV6 GT-Line is the vehicle for individuals who prefer the GT style but are less concerned with performance enhancements, while the GT is the vehicle for those who desire both. However, the EV6 GT will look good if you like the EV6's general appearance.

"Is that a Kia?"

The EV6 GT seems like a culmination of the improvements Kia has made over the last few years, which are difficult to overstate. While iconic vehicles like the Stinger might be put on the chopping block as part of the "out with the old, in with the new" trend, it also means that we'll be receiving some seriously awesome new vehicles, like the EV6 GT. [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="580"]Kia EV6 GT Picture Credit: Kia[/caption] What features of the EV6 GT are missing from other models, then? There are a few variations, and they are all about "moving faster." The EV6 GT produces 576 horsepower and has a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 3.4 seconds. Kia is keen to point out that its 0–60 time is quicker than that of the 2020 Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder RWD and the 2021 Ferrari Roma. You may have noticed that neither of those are electric vehicles (EVs), although EVs like the Tesla Model 3 Performance can outperform the GT with a time of 3.1 seconds. However, it still accelerates faster than the Mustang Mach-E GT, which does it in 3.5 seconds. So even though this EV is not the fastest, it is still incredibly quick. That shouldn't diminish how much fun it is to drive the EV6 GT, though. The vehicle receives a brand-new drive mode called GT, which is activated by pressing a special neon green GT button on the steering wheel. By turning it on, you can fully utilize the 270kW rear motor and 160kW front motor. It also tunes the steering to be more sensitive. Even a drift mode is available. I did drift an EV6, and I was terrible at it. [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Kia EV6 GT Picture Credit: Kia[/caption]

Perhaps the EV6 is not for you

All of stuff is really cool and has a great value. The EV6 GT is a fantastic alternative if you're searching for a high-performing EV that won't set you back like a Model S or an EQS. Although the starting price of $61,400 is high, it is less expensive than the Model Y Performance and the Mustang Mach-E GT. The EV6 GT costs more, but you also give up several features, most notably range. The EPA estimates a range of 206 miles for the EV6 GT, which is considerably fewer than the 252 miles that the GT-Line AWD and the 310 miles that the RWD EV6 Wind and GT-Line both manage. In other words, even if you mostly use the lower-power Eco and Normal modes, you won't get as much range as you would with comparable models with weaker motors, even if you will probably exceed estimates. The impact on my daily life is greater when I drive quickly, but I don't do it at the expense of range, and I imagine most people feel the same way. Thank goodness, the EV6 GT can charge at the same 350kW rate, which should take less than 20 minutes. Kia EV6 GT Kia is aware that the EV6 GT may not be the best option for everyone who values range above all else. The car is only being produced in a small batch of fewer than 2,500 vehicles by the company. Even though it states that it would increase production if there is high demand, it is at least conscious of the fact that this model is likely to appeal to a narrower audience. It doesn't promote the EV6 GT as the ideal electric vehicle for everyone. Even if this specific EV6 isn't for everyone, the EV6 GT helps establish the EV6 as a fantastic alternative for a variety of purchasers in general. The two best EVs now available, in my opinion, are the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the EV6. But you won't be dissatisfied if you purchase an EV6 GT knowing that the range will be lesser. While competition is coming, many EVs could use a bit more fun right now. It's undoubtedly one of the most entertaining EVs available right now.
