Las Vegas Robotaxis From Uber Still Require Chaperonesx

It seems like a perfect fit to test a robotaxi around the Las Vegas Strip, with its rowdy crowds, bright lights, and occasionally escaped lions. If they can manage it, moving to other cities ought to be simple. In Las Vegas, Uber will allow users to hail robotaxis, which Motional will run as part of a 10-year agreement. The so-called robotaxis (so we're just going with this name?) will have safety drivers behind the wheel to make sure the car doesn't crash into the jets at the Bellagio or whatever, as is always the case with these types of tales. The automated driving technology developed by Motional will nonetheless continue to drive the car. Hyundai and Aptiv have partnered to create Motional, which comes after the introduction of autonomous deliveries through Uber Eats in the Greater Los Angeles area. There are now no fees for passengers, and Motional claims that starting in 2023, it will stop using safety chaperones. Uber Robotaxis There is currently no agreement between Motional and the gondolas on the canal in front of the Venetian, but it does have a similar agreement with Uber's primary rival, Lyft. There are ambitions to grow close to Los Angeles, another sunny city with infrequent rain. According to Akshay Jaising, Vice President of Commercialization at Motional, "Today, Motional becomes the first AV firm to undertake all-electric autonomous trips on the Uber network for public passengers." The first of many places where Motional's AVs will be a regular transportation choice for Uber users seeking a convenient and safe journey is Las Vegas. Those who seek a trip will be given the option of an autonomous vehicle; if they accept, an autonomous Hyundai Ioniq 5 mid-sized hatchback with two safety monitors inside and plenty of awkward talk will arrive.
