Over the years, Apple has used various SIMs (subscriber identification modules) for iPhones. At first, Apple started using mini SIM in iPhones, followed by micro SIM, which the company launched with iPhone 4 and 4S. After that, Apple shifted to nano SIM with iPhone 5, which has been in use until now. But, over the last few years, an eSIM or embedded SIM has become a more convenient option for users. The eSIMs make it easier for customers to connect with carriers and use two different lines with one iPhone. Besides, since it’s digital, users don’t need to replace it with a physical card when changing carriers.

On another note, eSIMs are better than physical SIMs as they are small. Thus, they allow extra room for other components under the hood or even a larger battery. Hence, it is best to know if a user’s iPhone has an eSIM and, if it does, whether it supports dual eSIMs.
