Man "choked on wet toilet paper", previously charged with mom's murder

Authorities say a Massachusetts man who was accused of killing his mother and setting her body ablaze in front of her $900,000 Cape Cod mansion choked to death on wet toilet paper over the weekend.
According to a statement from spokesperson Jonathan Darling of the Bristol County Sheriff's Office, Adam Howe, 34, was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford where he was declared dead on Sunday.
According to the statement, Mr. Howe experienced a medical emergency after clogging his airways with wet toilet paper. “Out of respect for the family, we have no additional comment or detail. That family has been through a lot this weekend. Please keep them in your prayers.”
Susan Howe, 69, was found dead and still burning on her front yard Friday at 9:30 p.m. in the Truro neighborhood of Cape Cod, which is best known for its lobster rolls and sandy beaches.
According to Michael O'Keefe, the district attorney for the Cape and Islands, and Jamie Calise, the chief of the Truro Police Department, they had responded to requests for a wellness check and reports of a fire.

The Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team physically removed Adam Howe from the house off Quail Ridge Road after he had barricaded himself inside, according to the officials.
Authorities claimed he was transferred to Cape Cod Hospital for a psychiatric assessment and given the all-clear to return to jail by medical professionals.
Adam Howe has criminal history, He was taken into custody in August after breaking into a store in Truro, Massachusetts. In addition, he was accused of having Suboxone, a medication used to treat opioid addiction, without a valid prescription.
“Susan brought immense creativity, energy, time and passion to our organization,” the Truro Historical Society Board of Directors said in a press release. “She loved Truro, and was totally committed to preserving our history and culture and the well-being of her beloved town.”
