Mum runs sex shop for elderly people who find average toys ‘too mighty’

A 61-year-old businesswoman just started a sex shop that caters to those who are 50 and older. To help older people who find a standard stock "too powerful" and struggle with their sex life as they age, Suzanne Noble founded the internet store "Sunset Satisfaction." The mother of two, who resides in Kilburn, London, also co-hosts a sex podcast with her partner Peter Marriott, 62, and has nearly 50,000 followers on her TikTok channel. ‘As a result of that, we knew there were a lot of people in their 50s and 60s really struggling with their sex life, and with experiencing pleasure, because they were leaving lots of comments.

‘So we decided we would do something about that and open a shop for older people.’

The American-British, who previously worked in PR, said she aims to keep stock ‘simple’ so her customers don’t get overloaded.

She explained: ‘We’re trying to keep it quite simple and not overwhelm people with lots and lots of products. A lot of sex shops have so much stuff people don’t really know where to start.

‘I know that was my own experience when I first started to get into sex toys. I was just overwhelmed by all the stuff that was out there, some of which were really too powerful.

We also have a tonne of books, many of which I've read and would recommend since they're quite useful when attempting to comprehend how to have pleasure later in life. We have books on both understanding your sexual life and your sexual life following loss. Despite the fact that Sunset Satisfaction has only been open for three weeks, Suzanne claims that things are going well. She commented, "It looks to be going nicely." We have had a lot of orders and wonderful feedback, so that's great. "We are expecting more." On TikTok, where we have millions of views and almost 50,000 followers, we're hoping some of those users will stop by and take a look. Suzanne adds that she’s received feedback from people saying there’s not enough information out there for older individuals – and that she’s first woman they’ve seen actually having honest conversations on the topic.

She added: ‘There is a lot of stigma, but also there are a lot of significant issues that do arise, especially for women, as you get older, and you don’t know where to go and talk about it.

‘I have been really surprised about how quickly it’s all gone crazy. It’s insane.

‘It seems to have struck a chord with people. There’s just not enough people talking about these issues and sex at older ages.’
