New GranTurismo-Maserati's First All-Electric Vehicle

A classic European grand tourer is incomparable to anything else. A plush interior, an aerodynamic exterior, and a strong drivetrain mated together to create the ideal vehicle for crossing a continent. Consequently, Maserati recently introduced the most recent GranTurismo model. In addition, it pays homage to the A6 1500, the brand's first production road car, while looking to the future as the company's first all-electric automobile.

Details on the new GranTurismo model

The new GranTurismo model will offer three variants - Modena, Trofeo, and Folgore. Furthermore, Modena will have the same 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 Nettuno engine found in the MC20 supercar. But, in the GranTurismo Modena, the Nettuno will provide 490 horsepower instead of the MC20's 621 hp. Moreover, the high-performance GranTurismo, called the Trofeo, has the same engine as the GranTurismo but with an upgrade that allows it to produce 550 horsepower. Additionally, the GranTurismo Folgore is Maserati's first electric vehicle, in contrast to the Trofeo. The variant sports three 402-hp electric motors, sending 760 horsepower to the wheels. In addition, the 92.5 kWh battery for the coupe is T-shaped and located behind the passenger compartment and in the middle tunnel to save Maserati from having to elevate the floor to make room for it. Interestingly, this was the key element of Maserati's "zero-compromise" strategy to maintain Folgore's athletic character compared to combustion-powered competitors. Additionally, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, which has a 93.4-kWh battery, has a battery capacity comparable to Folgore's. Lastly, the new GranTurismo looks a lot like the outgoing model, with tall, narrow headlights that resemble those on the MC20. Furthermore, the interior of the new coupe is sleek and contemporary with a utilitarian design. Also, each variation of the GranTurismo comes with distinctive details. For instance, the electric Folgore employs Econyl, a sustainable nylon upholstery made from recovered fishing nets, while the Trofeo features perforated leather.
