The first production and delivery report from Tesla for 2023 has been released. The automaker achieved a new record for deliveries but fell short of Wall Street expectations, mirroring its Q4 2022 numbers. Tesla revealed on Sunday that it has shipped 422,875 electric vehicles in the year's first three months. Another record for the company was set at that time when it produced 440,808 vehicles.
Independent analyst Troy Teslike forecasted the company was on track to deliver 427,000 automobiles in the first quarter of the year as we headed into the weekend. The final tally for the corporation is up 36% from the 310,048 deliveries it had previously stated at this time last year. Compared to the 405,278 deliveries it announced in the last quarter of 2022, this number represents an additional 4% growth.

Naturally, Tesla's first quarter of 2023 deliveries was dominated by the Model 3 and Model Y, with 412,180 of those cars reaching customers by the end of March. In contrast, just 10,695 of Tesla's more premium Model S and Model X vehicles were delivered over the same period. This is less than the 17,147 Model S and Model X automobiles it shipped out in the previous quarter.

It will be interesting to observe how Tesla's most recent delivery statistics impact the bottom line of the business. Tesla dramatically reduced prices on the majority of its lineup throughout the first three months of the year. For instance, the price of the five-seat Model Y decreased from $65,990 in January to $52,990 and then to $54,990 less than a month later. The carmaker recently reduced the cost of its Model S and X automobiles by up to $10,000. On April 19th, Tesla will release its comprehensive Q1 results.
